Chance Of Rain All Weekend, Temps In The 80s For Maryland

MARYLAND — Chances for rain across Maryland will continue through the weekend and into Monday as temperatures hover in the upper 80s, according to the National Weather Service.

Scattered showers and storms over the weekend will become more likely on Monday, the weather service said. Rain chances will increase from 40 percent Saturday and Sunday to 80 percent as the work week starts.

During the first part of the weekend, a surge in moisture from the southern Atlantic Seaboard can lead to spotty thunderstorm activity along the mid-Atlantic coast, according to AccuWeather. Storms should avoid the beaches most of the weekend.

Showers and thunderstorms will reach Ohio and western Pennsylvania on Sunday then spread to the central Appalachians Sunday night and expand to the Interstate-95 corridor of the mid-Atlantic on Monday, AccuWeather said.

Sunday: A slight chance of showers between 8am and 2pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 87. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Sunday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 73. South wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Monday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. High near 87. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
