MILLSBORO, DE — What does it take to win the Maryland Lottery more than once? Being from Delaware is a good start.

Duane Ketterman, a resident of Millsboro, Delaware, recently won nearly $31,000 on Maryland Lottery's "Racetrax" game after purchasing a winning ticket at Dash In in Stevensville.

Why play in Maryland? Ketterman works as a powerline technician, which takes him across the Maryland state line every day, lottery officials said in a news release. Ketterman makes it a point to buy tickets when he's in the state, and the habit has paid off in big ways.

Just five weeks ago, Ketterman won $18,000 playing the same game.

"I couldn’t believe I won the first time," Ketterman told Lottery officials last week. "So, when I saw this one, I was just stunned."

Ketterman claimed his $30,785 prize while in Baltimore last weekend. According to lottery officials, he picked his Trifecta numbers at random — 3, 11 and 12 — and played them for 20 races. He added the "Bonus" multiplier to his ticket, which boosted his prize by five times, lottery officials said.

The Queen Anne’s County store that sold him the ticket will receive a $307.85 bonus, lottery officials said.
