This Eatery Serves MD's Most Iconic Hot Dog, Ranking Says

GLEN BURNIE, MD — A tiny roadside restaurant that has served generations of Anne Arundel County customers is getting national recognition for its classic hot dog.

Ann’s Dari-Creme in Glen Burnie was selected as Maryland’s entry in Only In Your State’s ranking of 50 Iconic Hot Dogs in the U.S. Worth the Road Trip.

Only In Your State said its nationwide list focused on establishments that have come to define hot dogs in their respective states, including some that opened before World War II and others that operate seasonally or from mobile food trucks.

The ranking chose one hot dog destination in each state, with the final list highlighting a wide range of eateries, including stands, drive-ins and lunch counters.

Located at 7918 Ritchie Highway near Marley Station Mall, Ann’s is known for its footlong hot dogs, including a version served with mustard, onions and housemade chili on a hearth-baked bun. The compact restaurant also serves cheesesteaks, French fries, soft-serve ice cream and milkshakes.

The family-run business celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2025.

Only In Your State praised both Ann's hot dog cooking method and the restaurant’s old-fashioned setting.

“The char you get from the flat-top is different from steaming: the exterior crisps slightly while the inside stays juicy. Expect seasonal operation in a building that hasn't been updated since its opening. A true classic,” Only In Your State wrote.
