Man Shoots 8-Month-Old After Knocking On MD Apartment Door: Report

WALDORF, MD — An 8-month-old baby was hospitalized Thursday after police say they were shot in the hand by an unknown assailant, according to a report.
The shooting happened just after midnight in the 3000 block of Gallery Place in Waldorf, WUSA 9 reported, citing the Charles County Sheriff's Office. Police told the station a man knocked on an apartment door there, and a woman holding a baby answered it.
After the woman answered the door, the man reportedly got angry, pulled out a gun, and fired a shot, striking the 8-month-old child in the hand, WUSA reported. It's unclear whether the suspect intended to hit the infant.

The baby was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Police are still searching for a suspect, according to reports.
