MD Apartment Fire Investigated As Arson Case: Fire Marshal
A house in Queen Anne's County turned into apartments was intentionally set on fire Saturday night, the state fire marshal's office said.
CHESTER, MD — A suspected arson fire did heavy damage to house turned into two apartments, the Maryland state fire marshal said, displacing 10 people.
The fire at 2111 Main St., Apartment A, in Chester, Queen Anne’s County, was reported just before 8:30 p.m. Saturday, according to a news release.
The one-story subdivided residence sustained $90,000 damage, plus $40,000 to the possessions inside the building, state officials said.

Residents spotted the fire on the outside of the home and reported it, the state fire marshal said. The cause of the blaze was classified as incendiary.
Investigators ruled the fire was intentionally set to the building's exterior while it was occupied.
