MD Cities With The Most Rapidly Growing Home Prices: Report

MARYLAND — Homeowners in Maryland have been nervous about the value of their homes since interest rates began climbing last year, pricing some would-be buyers out of the market.

But dozens of cities saw soaring price increases, with one city's home values soaring more than a quarter of a million dollars in one year.

A new report compiled by media organization Stacker uses Zillow data to find out how the state's real estate demographics have fluctuated over the past year.

Data was available for 351 cities and towns in Maryland. Home values in the top city on the list grew by $254,375 over the last 12 months.

The overwhelming bulk of Maryland cities with the fastest growing prices are in the DC suburbs, or in the Baltimore region near Chesapeake Bay.

4. Potomac - Typical home value: $1,171,909; 1-year price change: +$51,119 (+4.6%)
5. Davidsonville - Typical home value: $806,105; 1-year price change: +$47,047 (+6.2%)
6. Sherwood - Typical home value: $630,830; 1-year price change: +$46,610 (+8.0%)
7. West Friendship - Typical home value: $904,710; 1-year price change: +$45,458 (+5.3%)
8. McHenry - Typical home value: $565,845; 1-year price change: +$41,099 (+7.8%)
9. Bethesda - Typical home value: $1,058,740; 1-year price change: +$40,027 (+3.9%)
10. Fulton - Typical home value: $859,602; 1-year price change: +$39,983 (+4.9%)
