MD Food Recall: Gorton's Fish Sandwiches May Have Bone Fragments
Gorton's fish sandwiches sold at Giant, Wegmans and other Maryland stores have been recalled by the FDA over large and sharp bone fragments.
MARYLND — Frozen Gorton’s Fish Sandwich packages that were shipped to five states — including grocery stores in Maryland — were recalled Thursday because they may contain large and sharp bone fragments, according to an alert issued by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The company's announcement said Gorton’s Seafood of Gloucester, Massachusetts, is voluntarily recalling the frozen seafood item Gorton’s Fish Sandwich - 100% Whole Fillets, 18.3 ounces "due to the isolated and unusual potential presence of large and/or sharp bone fragments."

Eating this recalled product may pose a choking hazard or other physical injury.
No injuries have been reported from the sandwich to date.

Gorton's is recalling 504 packages sold to these Maryland retailers: Giant Food Stores and Giant Martin's, Farm Fresh, Shoppers Value Foods, Wegmans, Farm Fresh, and Green Valley Marketplace.
The recalled product can be identified by the date code and time range listed below:

TIME RANGE: 15:30-17:30
Retailers that stocked the recalled product have been told to immediately remove this item from their shelves.
Consumers who have purchased the recalled product should contact Gorton’s at 1-888-573-5982 between 8:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. ET Monday through Friday.
No other Gorton’s products or date codes are involved in this recall.
