More Than 100 Snakes Found With Dead Man In Maryland House

A mix of more than 100 venomous and non-venomous snakes, some illegal, were found in tanks situated on racks in a dead man's MD home.

POMFRET, MD — More than 100 snakes were discovered along with a dead man in his Pomfret home earlier this week, according to the Charles County Sheriff's Office.

The 49-year-old man was found unconscious on the floor of his home Wednesday evening and was pronounced dead, according to authorities.

The man was taken to the Chief Medical Examiner's Office in Baltimore for an autopsy. There were no signs of foul play, police said.

Some of the snakes were illegal to own in Maryland, including pythons, rattlesnakes, cobras and black mambas, according to a report from NBC Washington.

An expert crew was brought in to handle the venomous snakes, and the removal process took several hours, according to the report.

Deputies responded to the call when a neighbor contacted authorities after finding the man lying unconscious while checking in on him, police said.
