Share the Warmth Coat Drive at Strathmore

Coat drive will benefit Interfaith Works Clothing Center families; Strathmore offers $10 discount voucher for each donated coat

Interfaith Works and Strathmore Music Center again will join forces to ensure individuals and families in need have a safer, warmer winter through Share the Warmth, a coat drive for arts patrons and music lovers to give back to their community. Strathmore will collect gently used and new coats, as well as hats, gloves and other cold weather gear at all Music Center concerts through January 1.

Patrons will receive a $10 voucher per donated coat, which can be applied to future Strathmore-presented performances and events in the 2017–2018 Season. Donations will be accepted one hour prior to Music Center concerts, and also during regular business hours in the lobby of the Music Center at Strathmore, located at 5301 Tuckerman Lane, North Bethesda, MD 20852.

Gently used or new coats in all sizes—adults, children, and infants—are welcome, as well as cold-weather gear such as hats, scarves, and mittens. The donations will go to the Interfaith Works Clothing Center, an Interfaith Works program that provides free clothing and home goods to economically vulnerable individuals and families. Last year, the drive collected more than 400 coats for local families in need. The Center serves more than 12,900 income-qualified residents, including 5,700 children, annually.

"People facing great personal hardships will be warm and dry this winter, thanks to this partnership with Strathmore and its generous patrons," said Interfaith Works CEO Shane Rock. “Every day, the IW Clothing Center is serving up to 200 families—moms, dads, grandparents and children. The donated coats will make life easier for these vulnerable families. By preserving their limited funds, they will be able to afford essentials like rent, medicine, and food. We are very grateful to Strathmore and its patrons for their commitment to helping others."
