ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — As of Monay morning, Anne Arundel County's health department reported a total of 4,916 positive coronavirus cases, an increase of 12 cases from the day prior, according to the Anne Arundel County Department of Health, and 191 deaths, which is unchanged from the day prior. The state has 64,603 confirmed cases, an increase of 297 cases from the day prior, and 2,945 deaths total, reports the Maryland Department of Health. More than 10,572 people have been hospitalized.

The county has its own website dedicated to monitoring the pandemic with local data, such as which communities have more cases. Cases also can be tracked via zip code.

Anne Arundel County reported its first death stemming from the coronavirus March 28. Gov. Larry Hogan issued a stay-at-home order March 30 to what he called a "rapidly escalating emergency situation." At a news conference May 13, Gov. Larry Hogan announced Stage One of his "Maryland Strong: Roadmap to Recovery" plan that took effect May 15 at 5 p.m. that lifted the stay-at-home order. A safer at home public health advisory takes its place but jurisdictions are allowed to retain restrictions if needed.

Stage Two started June 5 at 5 p.m. with restrictions lifted on more businesses and houses of worship. Some government agencies began opening June 8. For all businesses, face coverings are encouraged during face-to-face interactions and businesses are encouraged to conduct temperature screenings of employees. Additional Stage 2 reopenings rolled out June 12 at 5 p.m. These additional measures are in line with Gov. Larry Hogan's latest executive order. The latest reopenings allow for restaurants to offer limited indoor seating at up to 50 percent capacity with "strict safety precautions" implemented. Outdoor amusements and rides, including miniature golf and go-kart tracks, may also resume operations under state guidance.
