Hwy. 50 Salisbury Bypass To Ocean City Closed For Emergency Repairs
A major road leading to Ocean City is closed for emergency pavement damage and drainage erosion.

SALSIBURY, MD — A major road leading to Ocean City is closed for emergency repairs Tuesday, according to Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA).
Eastbound US 50 and US 13 Bypass at US 50 Business (Salisbury Boulevard) was closed because of pavement damage and drainage erosion, officials say. The right lane was already closed at the same location for a pipe repair.
“Significant rainfall last weekend created additional erosion under the road," MDOT SHA District Engineer Jay Meredith said in a statement."For the safety of the traveling public, we closed both lanes, began immediate repairs and are detouring traffic."

Beach-goers are urged to plan a different time to travel. Drivers are being detoured onto U.S. 50 Business through Salisbury, which served as the gateway to beach resorts before the Salisbury Bypass was completed, officials said.

All westbound lanes are open and not impacted by the closure, officials said.
