51 Cats, Bodies of 8 Dead Cats Removed From House
Anne Arundel County authorities say most of the cats seized from a Glen Burnie house are ill. They are not yet available for adoption.

GLEN BURNIE, MD — A tip from a landlord led authorities to seize more than 50 ailing cats and kittens, along with several dead felines, from a Glen Burnie house.
Anne Arundel County Police said they received calls Monday from a landlord concerned about the well-being of their tenant and the animals in the rental property on Westphalia Court in Glen Burnie.
County Animal Control and police went to the house, where they reported “deplorable conditions” inside the home.

The tenant denied authorities entry to the residence, so police obtained and executed a search and seizure on Tuesday.
Animal Control officers removed 51 live cats or kittens from the home and the bodies of eight dead cats or kittens.

A veterinarian who briefly observed the cats and kittens at Animal Control said most of the animals are suffering from ailments, including upper respiratory infections, malnutrition and dehydration.
The cats and kittens are not currently available for adoption and are under protective custody with Anne Arundel County.
Police have not said if charges will be filed in the case, but noted the investigation continues.
