The 8th Annual Recovery Walk will wind through downtown Annapolis Sept. 22 and feature guest speakers and vendors.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — September is Recovery Awareness Month and to raise awareness about the importance of partnerships in the substance abuse recovery process, organizers will host a special walk and event Sunday, Sept. 22.

The 8th Annual Recovery Walk will begin at 10 a.m. at Whitmore Park in Annapolis and wind through downtown Annapolis for 1.2 miles. A representative from Maryland Gov. Around Whitmore Park, booths and vendors will be set up to offer resources to people seeking recovery services.

“I encourage people to come out to participate in this walk,” said Mayor Gavin Buckley in a statement. “Addiction doesn’t care about socio-economic status, race or gender. Recovery is a community endeavor, and events like this are important to raising issues of public health and well-being.”

The event is being carried out in partnership with Recovery Anne Arundel and Street Corner Ministries. Sponsors include Serenity Sistas’ Inc, Gaudenzia, Recovery Centers of America, Pathways, Chrysalis House, WRNR 103.1, Anne Arundel County, City of Annapolis, Evolve Life Centers, Arundel Lodge, Project Chesapeake and New Life Addiction Counseling and Mental Health Services.
