Free Meal Program Expands During Coronavirus School Shutdown

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — Anne Arundel County Public Schools has expanded the meal offerings for children ages two to 18 yet again. Kids can receive breakfast, lunch and dinner in a single pickup from 21 mobile unit locations. There currently are 31 school sites that will be open from noon to 12:30 Monday through Friday. Nine new sites will open beginning March 23 for a total of 61 sites across the county. All meals will be provided free of charge each weekday. Adults cannot accept meals on behalf of children.

“This effort truly exemplifies what we mean by #AACPSAwesome,” said AACPS Superintendent George Arlotto in a statement. “Led by Supervisor of Food and Nutrition Services Jodi Risse, our team was not content to just serve lunch to students. Once we got the approvals to expand, our team sprung into action and will have three meals ready for students tomorrow. I could not be more proud of the way our AACPS family works to support our children.”

The following sites have been added:

By federal standards, a site must be located in a place which serves a school where 50 percent or more of students are eligible for free and reduced-price meals.
