AACPS Parents, Staff Share First Day Highlights
Students returned to the classroom Monday -- and at least one ALS ice bucket challenge was done -- in the Anne Arundel County Public Schools

New backpacks were filled and rules explained as students went back to school across Anne Arundel County Monday morning.
Unlike some Maryland counties, Anne Arundel has a rolling start to the school year. On Monday, it was back to school for grades 1-5, 6 and 9. On Tuesday, students in grades 1-12 are in class, while kindergarten and pre-kindergarten start later in the week.
At Glen Burnie High School, staffers marked the new school year by taking the ALS ice bucket challenged. They then issued a challenge to AACPS school resource officers and fall sports coaches to do the same.
