Accidental Garage Fire Burns Home Near Annapolis: Officials

An accidental garage fire burned a home near Annapolis, officials said. The fire department is still investigating what caused the blaze.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — An accidental garage fire burned a home near Annapolis on Thursday, the Anne Arundel County Fire Department said.

Nobody was hurt. The two occupants and their two dogs escaped safely before crews arrived, a press release said.

Officials said the home had functioning smoke detectors. The fire department is still investigating what caused the blaze.

The occupants reported the fire in the 1900 block of Sherwood Forest Road around 6:15 a.m. First responders said they saw flames and smoke on multiple sides of the two-story, single-family home.

A team of 99 controlled the one-alarm blaze in about an hour, officials said.

The Anne Arundel County Fire Department thanked these stations for assisting its response:

  • Naval Support Activity Annapolis Fire Department

The Anne Arundel County Police Department was also on the scene. Baltimore Gas and Electric responded as well.
