Authorities said the incident happened during an after-school program on the 700 block of Chase Street. Police did not name the school, although the Wiley H. Bates Middle School is near the location.

Police said a "group" of girls were playing when two students — later identified by staffers — approached and began shooting the pellets.

The two students were suspended for five days by the school.

No additional details were provided on the incident.
