ANNE ARUNDEL CO., MD — Two Annapolis residents are facing multiple firearm and drug-related charges after a traffic stop in Severn, police said.
The arrested individuals were identified as 21-year-olds Omar Shalabi and Mariah Jaidyn Williams.
Court records show Shalabi and Williams are facing a combined total of 34 charges, the most serious of which include possession with intent to distribute narcotics and possession of a firearm while distributing or attempting to distribute controlled drugs.
A release issued by the Anne Arundel County Police Department said the traffic stop was carried out Monday around 7:30 p.m. near Pioneer and Richfield drives in Severn.
At the scene, investigators seized a Glock handgun, a digital scale, baggies, over 10 grams of suspected cocaine, and 1,770 grams of suspected marijuana. Also confiscated was $7,501 in cash.
Police did not specify the traffic violation that led officers to stop the 2015 Ford Explorer and carry out a K-9 search.
Although Williams was released on her own recognizance, Shalabi was ordered held without bond.
Shalabi has a court hearing scheduled for May 27.
