ANNE ARUNDEL CO., MD — With less than two months before the June primary, the Anne Arundel County Board of Elections is putting out an urgent call to fill election vacancies.
The board is specifically looking for recruits to fill nearly 700 vacant Republican election judge positions across the county, in every district.
A breakdown provided by the board shows the 1st, 4th, 6th, and 7th districts each require more than 100 election judges. A total of 71 chief judges, 146 check-in judges, 365 voting operations judges, and 107 provisional judges are needed.
"This recruitment drive aims to ensure that every polling place in the county meets the legal requirements for bipartisan representation, safeguarding the integrity and transparency of our local democratic process," reads a notice.
"Election Judges are the frontline defenders of the voting process. They are responsible for checking in voters, assisting with voting equipment, and ensuring that election laws are followed strictly and fairly."
