ANNE ARUNDEL CO., MD — The 2026 Maryland Recreation and Parks Association Annual Conference saw the county take home four awards at the end of the night.
The four awards won by the Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks included:
Each award recognized the county's work in community partnerships, environmental stewardship, and efforts to implement inclusive child care.
“These honors perfectly illustrate the breadth of our mission — it’s about so much more than just acreage,” AACDRP Director Jessica Leys said in a statement.
“We are being recognized for everything from protecting our coastal ecosystems at Mayo Beach to providing specialized child care through our therapeutic teams."
"This year’s success also highlights the power of collaboration, whether we are partnering with Prince George’s County to bridge regional trail gaps or empowering advocacy groups like BikeAAA to make our roads safer for everyone," she added.
AACDRP manages over 140 county parks and sanctuaries, which stretch to a combined total of more than 17,000 acres of recreational and protected lands.
