Home Goods Store Says Goodbye After 5-Year Run

Welcome Home, a downtown Annapolis home goods store, permanently closed this month. But it doesn't mean the brand is gone forever.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Home goods store Welcome Home Markets closed its doors for the last time last week in Annapolis after staying in operation for five years.

Founder Jenn Baker announced the closure on a Facebook post, explaining that the closure was decided on after the building needed repairs that required inventory to be relocated.

As the repair timeframe was aligning with the end of the store's lease, both the Welcome Home team and the property management came to the agreement that the lease would be ended earlier than initially agreed.

"It's sad, frustrating, a whole ball of things, but it's all for good," Baker said. "It made sense for everyone."

"This is going to allow them to come in and breathe some desperately needed new life into an old building that has needed some repairs for a long time."

The store had operated out of its location at 64 State Circle for the last several years. But it doesn't mean the Welcome Home crew won't be continuing to sell its merchandise.

For the time being, shoppers will still be able to pick up an item or two online or at Welcome Home's bases in Easton and Chestertown in Talbot and Kent counties, respectively.
