2 Teens Face Assault, Handgun Charges After Annapolis Store Dispute: Police

Two teens were hit with a mix of assault and handgun charges after a firearm was brandished inside an Annapolis store, police said.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Two teenagers are facing assault and handgun charges after an argument broke out inside an Annapolis store.

The incident took place on the 1300 block of Forest Drive shortly before 5:30 p.m. on Friday, according to the Annapolis Police Department.

Officers said the assault case was tied to a 15-year-old boy and 18-year-old Michael Dougall, of Annapolis.

Both had already left the scene by the time police arrived, but were located less than half a mile away in the 1400 block of Tyler Avenue.

Preliminary findings released by police indicate that one of the teens had brandished a handgun when the argument broke out inside the store.

Investigators have not detailed what prompted the argument or who had the firearm when the incident took place, but did state the gun was retrieved.

Police said the 15-year-old boy was detained and charged with assault. Court records show Dougall was hit with four misdemeanor charges, including:

Dougall remains held without bond at the Jennifer Road Detention Center. A trial for the case is scheduled for Aug. 25.
