Beloved Annapolis Restaurant Says Goodbye After 40 Years In Business

ANNAPOLIS, MD — After serving guests for more than 40 years, O'Learys Seafood Restaurant in Annapolis will close its doors for the last time next month.

The closing was announced by owner Wil Peterson, who explained in a Facebook post that the decision came about after the restaurant lost its lease.

The seafood restaurant has operated out of Annapolis since 1983.

"It is with an incredibly heavy heart that I share the news that O’Learys Seafood will be closing its doors due to the loss of our lease," reads the post. "This was not my decision, and it is not the ending I ever imagined or hoped for."

"For more than four decades, this restaurant has been more than a place to eat; it has been a gathering place, a home for memories, and a part of my life that I will always carry with me. To every customer who walked through our doors, and especially to our loyal customers who stood by us year after year, thank you from the bottom of my heart."

Last Day Set + Staff Appreciation Night

Peterson said the restaurant's last day of service would be held Aug. 2. A staff appreciation night, where all proceeds go to the restaurant's employees, is in the works.

"Whether you shared a meal with us, celebrated milestones here, brought family and friends to our tables, or simply made us part of your routine, your kindness, loyalty, laughter, and support have meant more to me than I can ever fully put into words," he said.

Until its last day of operation, O'Learys Seafood Restaurant will continue to provide service from Tuesday to Sunday out of its base at 310 Third Street.

Visitors can stop in anytime between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and on Sundays. On Friday and Saturday, doors stay open from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
