ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — A flood watch was issued Wednesday for large parts of Anne Arundel County as storm cells are forecast to bring heavy rainfall to the region.
The National Weather Service says the flood watch will remain in effect until 4 p.m.
"Showers and a few thunderstorms with very heavy rain are likely through this afternoon," reads the latest NWS advisory.
"Rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour may result in localized totals of 2 to 3 inches, which would result in flooding mainly in urban and poor drainage areas."
Residents are urged to be cautious and avoid any roadways that become flooded.
Wednesday: Showers and thunderstorms likely before noon, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between noon and 2 p.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 86. South wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
