ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — Days ahead of the 2026-2027 school year, Anne Arundel County Public Schools will host opening ceremonies for three modernized schools.
The ribbon-cutting ceremonies will take place in Annapolis, Gambrills and Severn, according to the district.
Of the three, the first will take place on the upper level of the Annapolis Mall, at 2280 Annapolis Mall Road, on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
Unlike traditional schools, the New Village Academy is a tuition-free public charter school geared to students who desire "real-world experiences, community involvement, career exploration, and hands-on projects."
A spokesperson for the academy previously told Patch that the school had a total of 180 students enrolled.

Openings for the Carver Early Education Center and the Marley Glen School at Severn Run will take place Thursday at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.
While the Carver Early Education Center is geared toward prekindergarten students from the Arundel and Crofton clusters, the Marley Glen School at Severn Run will serve older AACPS students with specialized needs.
The Carver and Marley Glen openings were part of the district's comprehensive school construction and renovation program, which included modernizing both facilities.
Carver Early Education Center is located at 2671 Carver Road, while the Marley Glen School at Severn Run is situated at 8065 New Cut Road.
AACPS says the three schools reflect the district's "commitment to meeting students where they are and providing opportunities designed around where they are headed."
The first day of school for AACPS students will take place Aug. 25. Transition day for students is Aug. 24.
