1. 1 Person Dead, Another Injured After House Collapses In Annapolis (patch.com) — Annapolis residents on Green Holly Drive are dealing with a deadly house collapse that followed a reported explosion, killing one person and seriously burning another. More than 50 first responders rushed in, nearby homes were evacuated due to a propane threat, and police are asking neighbors for Ring camera footage while road closures remain in place.
2. Rotary Club of Annapolis Invites Local Non-Profits to Apply for Crab Feast Grants (whatsupmag.com) — Local nonprofits in Annapolis and nearby Anne Arundel communities can now apply for Rotary Club of Annapolis Crab Feast grants of up to $4,000, with applications due October 1, 2026. Proceeds from this year's Crab Feast will support organizations improving local families' lives, and residents can also connect with the club through its regular meetings around Annapolis.
3. Two $1M lottery tickets lead Maryland's $30.4M winning week (shorenewsnetwork.com) — A $200,000 scratch-off ticket sold in Annapolis was among Maryland's biggest lottery wins last week, part of more than $30.4 million in prizes statewide. Two separate $1 million tickets in Fallston and Manchester led the way, while several other six-figure winners were reported in Baltimore and Salisbury.
4. St. John's College Great Books Program Officially Recognized as a Triple Major in Philosophy, Literature, and the Natural Sciences (sjc.edu) — St. John's College, with its campus in Annapolis, has officially had its Great Books undergraduate program recognized as equivalent to a triple major in philosophy, literature, and the natural sciences. Starting with the Class of 2027, graduates will receive the newly named degree, which leaders say will improve visibility in college searches and may gain a STEM designation to help students' futures.
