New charter high school opens inside Annapolis Mall (wbaltv.com) β A new tuition-free public charter high school, New Village Academy, has opened inside Annapolis Mall, turning the former Lord & Taylor space into a community-focused learning hub. The school emphasizes project-based learning tied to Annapolis, including work on flooding and housing issues, and encourages students to use public transit, mall amenities, and local internships as part of their education.

Community Foundation Announces 2026 Celebration of Philanthropy Awardees (eyeonannapolis.net) β Annapolis residents and organizations are among seven honorees in the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County's 2026 Celebration of Philanthropy Awards, with Historic Annapolisβnominated winners highlighted. The awards will be presented at a November 12 luncheon in Hanover, with tickets and sponsorships now available and last year's event having sold out.

THIS WEEKEND: Annapolis Symphony Opens 65th Season With Free Pops in the Park Concerts (eyeonannapolis.net) β Free Pops in the Park concerts from the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra are coming to Quiet Waters Park in Annapolis and Downs Park in Pasadena to kick off the orchestra's 65th season. Both shows, featuring Maryland Poet Laureate Lady Brion and popular orchestral favorites, include free admission, parking, and family-friendly activities, with a rain date set for September 7 at Quiet Waters.
