ANNAPOLIS, MD — A malfunctioning machine sparked a small fire and prompted reports of an explosion at an Annapolis dry-cleaning business on Saturday, according to reports citing officials.
Anne Arundel County and Annapolis firefighters were called to a blaze at Zips Cleaners, located at 1955 West St., around 8:45 a.m. on Saturday, The Baltimore Sun and FOX45 reported.
People inside the business used a fire extinguisher to put out the flames before firefighters arrived, according to reports. No one was injured, and the building sustained no damage.
Annapolis Fire Marshal Capt. Kenneth White told The Sun that a malfunctioning dryer caused a small fire and the machine's door blew off.
Gas and electricity were shut off at the business following the incident, and it was unclear when normal operations would resume, according to reports.
