First Phase of $105.8M Annapolis Public Housing Redevelopment to Include 58 Units (multifamilyaffordablehousing.com) — A $105.8 million overhaul of Annapolis's Robinwood public housing community is moving ahead, with a first phase bringing 214 updated and new rental units plus a community center and added amenities. Plans include 58 new garden-style apartments, rehabbed townhomes, and 47 senior units, with financing expected to close in summer 2027 before construction begins.
   

2. Family Fun Events in the Chesapeake: Sept. 5-6 (chesapeakefamily.com) — Families around Annapolis have several affordable ways to spend the Sept. 5–6 weekend, including a colonial-era midwife history program at the Museum of Historic Annapolis and a free America 250-themed Pops in the Park concert at Quiet Waters. There's also a hands-on kids' art workshop in Deale using vegetables as painting tools.
   

3. Public invited to provide input on proposed changes to menhaden fishery harvest (wavy.com) — Annapolis residents can weigh in on big proposed cuts to the Chesapeake Bay's industrial menhaden harvest, with a free "Menhaden Matter" event at the Philip Merrill Environmental Center on September 10. The Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission is considering halving the Bay's reduction fishery cap and spreading catches across the season, and the Chesapeake Bay Foundation is urging strong conservation measures and robust public comments before October 9.
   

4. Fifty Years Later, Alex Haley's 'Roots' Maintains its Historical and Sociological Force (baltimoremagazine.com) — Alex Haley's landmark book "Roots" is deeply tied to Annapolis, from the city's colonial slave port to pivotal research at the Maryland State Archives and the Kunta Kinte-Alex Haley Memorial at City Dock. As the 50th anniversary is marked, Annapolis hosts the annual Kunta Kinte Heritage Festival and continues exploring how this history shapes residents' understanding of the city today.
