Compass Rose Theater in Annapolis Earns Helen Hayes Award Recommendation for its Charlie Brown Musical (whatsupmag.com) — Compass Rose Theater in Annapolis has extended its Helen Hayes–recommended production of "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" at the Annapolis Mall's Live Arts Studio through October 18, giving locals extra time to catch the show. With discounted tickets for students, seniors, military, and groups, plus free parking and easy mall access, the nonprofit theater is highlighting Annapolis's growing arts scene.
2. Jumbo Jack-o'-Lanterns: The Great Annapolis Pumpkins (annapolismomsmedia.com) — Downtown Annapolis will host the Great Annapolis Pumpkins—half-ton gourds placed at Hopkins Plaza, the Visitor Center, Dock Street, and the Opera House—starting October 10, with carving on October 29 and displays through November 2. Families can pair a visit with other fall favorites like the Maryland Avenue Fall Festival or Annapolis Boat Shows, or even try growing their own giant pumpkins using tips from the University of Maryland Extension.
3. Gov. Wes Moore Honors Environmental Leader Kim Coble With Governor's Citation (thebaynet.com) — In Annapolis, Gov. Wes Moore honored Maryland League of Conservation Voters director Kim Coble with a Governor's Citation during the sold-out Changemakers: Celebrating Environmental Leaders event. The evening also spotlighted Congressman Steny Hoyer and Howard County's sustainability office, and featured a roundtable on Maryland's role amid federal environmental rollbacks.
4. Governor Moore Announces New Leadership at the Maryland Entertainment Industry Council (maryland.gov) — From Annapolis, Gov. Wes Moore has tapped former Howard County Executive Ken Ulman to chair the Maryland Entertainment Industry Council, which helps shape film, TV, and live entertainment strategy statewide. The move aims to leverage Maryland's growing entertainment projects, like a new Sphere-style venue and Preakness changes, into more jobs and economic opportunity for residents.
5. Sean O'Neill and Modera Wealth Management-Annapolis Team Honored for Advancing Local Philanthropy (eyeonannapolis.net) — Annapolis residents may recognize local financial leaders Sean O'Neill and the Modera Wealth Management-Annapolis team, who are being honored by the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County for advancing local philanthropy. They'll be inducted into the Professional Advisor Recognition Society at the Celebration of Philanthropy luncheon on November 12 at Live! Casino & Hotel Maryland, with tickets and sponsorships available through CFAAC.
