Anne Arundel County lottery ticket delivers massive $550K payday (shorenewsnetwork.com) — A Multi-Match lottery ticket worth $550,000 was sold at Bella's Liquors on Cape St. Claire Road in Annapolis, and the winner has 182 days to claim the prize. If you bought a ticket there for the Oct. 8 drawing, check your numbers carefully and sign your ticket, since the jackpot must be claimed through Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.
2. Nearly $5M federal grant will help Anne Arundel County address firefighter staffing needs (wmar2news.com) — Anne Arundel County just secured nearly $5 million in federal SAFER grant funding to hire 26 additional firefighters, bolstering coverage countywide. For Annapolis-area residents, the county's recent budget and this grant together support staffing for a new fire truck serving the Annapolis Neck and South County area, though union leaders say more permanent staffing investments are still needed.
3. Luminis Health cyberattack: Company says systems are back online (thebaltimorebanner.com) — Patients who rely on Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis can once again access most Luminis Health systems after a September cyberattack forced some services offline and diverted noncritical ER cases. The company says payment plans will be reset so patients aren't penalized, and it's still investigating what information, if any, was affected while upgrading cybersecurity defenses.
4. Seven Maryland Diners Serving Breakfast All Day, Because Pancakes Shouldn't Have A Curfew (newsbreak.com) — Annapolis readers get a shout-out with Double T Diner on Defense Street, where pancakes, crab cakes, and big omelets are served from morning through evening with easy parking and takeout options. The roundup also spotlights six other Maryland diners that keep breakfast on the menu all day, from Bethesda to Ocean City, for whenever your next off-hours pancake craving hits.
