Also in contention for the state's top post are Green Party candidates Andy Ellis and Owen Silverman Andrews and Working Class Party team Cathy White and Cathy Permut.

In the Maryland General Assembly, dozens of House of Delegates and Senate seats are up for grabs in the 2026 election cycle.

A key county race to watch in the 2026 election cycle is the county executive race, as well as the 6th District race between former Annapolis Mayor Gavin Buckley and Republican contender George Gallagher.

Residents can register on Election Day. However, voters must provide documentation confirming their identity and address.

Permissible documents include a valid Maryland driver's license, learner's permit, or state ID card. A change-of-address card, paycheck, bank statement, or utility bill can also prove residence.

On Election Day, residents must vote at their assigned polling place. Otherwise, they must vote by provisional ballot, according to the Board of Elections.

Residents can use an online tool provided by the state to find their designated voting district and polling station.

Election Day voting will run from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Residents can request mail-in ballots in person at their local board but must be submitted by 8 p.m. on Nov. 3.

Note: You can check the status of mail-in or provisional ballots online. Anyone who requested a mail-in ballot and decides to vote in person on Election Day must vote by provisional ballot at the polls.

After the June primary, the list of county executive contenders was whittled down to just two candidates: 2nd District Councilmember Allison Pickard (Democrat) and David Crawford, the Earleigh Heights Volunteer fire chief* (Republican).

The job involves handling the daily administration of county departments and submitting proposals for the county budget.

The current officeholder is Steuart Pittman, who was re-elected in 2022.
