Annapolis Bank Robbery Suspect Identified, Arrested: Police

Annapolis Police released surveillance photos of a man suspected of robbing BB&T Bank, and tips then led to his arrest.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — The same day that surveillance camera photos of a man suspected of robbing BB&T Bank at 101 Hillsmere Drive were released by the Annapolis Police Department, tips reportedly identified the man. Investigators had hoped that the public might recognize the man or the pickup truck he was driving Monday.

On Thursday, detectives were told that Rodney Wakefield, 51, of Annapolis was the suspect in the robbery. Wakefield was found in the 500 block of Burnside Street and arrested. Evidence linking Wakefield to the robbery was reportedly found with him, say police, and he then confessed to robbing the bank.

Wakefield was charged with armed robbery and other related offenses.
