Annapolis Crime: Police Arrest Woman in Connection with Hit-and-Run

Woman Arrested in Connection with Hit-and-Run—City police arrested a 23-year-old Annapolis woman who they said hit a parked car and continued driving.

Katherine Melton was charged with failure to stop after an unattended vehicle accident and failure to locate and notify the owner of unattended vehicle damage, according to police.

Police said the incident occurred around 11 p.m. Sunday in the 100 block of Main Street. According to police, people in the area reported seeing a car hit a parked vehicle and continue driving up Main Street. Police said the observers followed the car and tried to stop the person driving. The driver reportedly ran into a business on Main Street. Police located the woman and made an arrest.

Melton was released on her signature, police said.

Police Seek Suspect in Stabbing—Police continue to investigate a in which two people were transported to the Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore early Saturday morning. Police are seeking one suspect in the incident. Police ask anyone with any information to contact Detective Hipsky at 410-268-9000.

Jacket Stolen from Car—City police said someone smashed the rear driver’s side window of a car and took a brown jacket from the back seat. The incident occurred in the 1900 block of Copeland Street between Friday at 9 p.m. and Saturday at 9 a.m., police said.

Purse stolen from Car—Police said someone took a black Nine West purse from a car in the 800 block of Chesapeake Avenue between 5:30 and 5:40 p.m. Saturday. According to police, the owner of the car left the doors unlocked while loading the vehicle.

Money Take From Car—City police said $40 was taken from a car in the 1300 block of Hawkins Lane Sunday. The incident occurred between 4 a.m. and 3 p.m., and the car may have been unlocked, according to police.

Burglary on Francis Street—Police are investigating the burglary of a home in the unit block of Francis Street. Police said the incident happened between 5 p.m. Saturday and 8:40 p.m. Sunday. Someone forced open the back door to the home, according to police.

“The resident’s return may have caused suspect to flee without taking anything,” according to Monday’s daily incident report from police.
