Annapolis Crime: Police Respond to Robbery; Shopper Reports Stolen Purse

The (APD) reports 82 calls for service and 13 arrests in the last 24 hours.

The  information is a roundup of recent incidents supplied by the police department. It is not a complete list of crimes and incidents reported in Annapolis.

Annapolis Man Arrested on Rogue and Vagabond Charges—A 40-year-old Annapolis man was arrested in connection with rogue and vagabond charges on Monday, city police said.

According to police, an officer was near the 1000 block of Boucher Ave. when he spotted a man inside a car. The officer determined that the car didn’t belong to the occupant and he did not have permission to be inside it, according to police. The man was was identified as Glenard Moulden.

Police said Moulden was also served with an arrest warrant in connection with a theft from a vehicle that allegedly occurred between the evening of Nov. 11 and the early morning hours of Nov. 12 in the unit block of Munroe Court.

Moulden is being held on $25,000 bond for each charge, according to police.

Purse Taken From Shopping Cart—City police said a woman was shopping Monday when another woman removed her purse from a shopping cart. The incident occurred at Shoppers Food Warehouse in the 200 block of Old Solomons Island Road between 3 p.m. and 3:15 p.m., police said. 

According to police, the victim chased the woman, who dropped her purse and continued to run. It is unclear whether or not anything was taken from the purse.

Armed Robbery on Atwater drive—Police said an Annapolis man was robbed in the 300 block of Atwater Drive on Monday.

The victim told police he was walking between Annapolis Walk Drive and Atwater Drive around 6:15 p.m. when he was approached by 10 young men. According to police, the ages of the young men are unknown.

Police said they demanded the victim’s money and the victim started to run to his home on Atwater Drive. As he got close to the intersection of Atwater Drive and Bay Water Lane, the suspects caught up with him and started punching and kicking him, police said. One of the suspects held up a small handgun and demanded money, according to the police report. The victim told police he thought it looked like a toy gun.

Police said the suspects then reached into the victim’s pocket and took a cell phone and wallet.

The victim was able to get up and started running, and as he did, the suspects grabbed several bags of trash from the curb and started to hit him, police said.

Police said when the victim got to his house, his roommate and two other unidentified men ran outside and started fighting off the suspects. The roommate chased one of the suspects to the intersection of Good Harbour Road and Bellweather Court and grabbed one of the young men.

According to the report, as the roommate started to restrain him, a gray-colored van pulled up and a woman yelled, “That’s my nephew, let him go.” The roommate released the young man and tried to talk to the woman driver about what had happened.

The woman left the scene, police said.

Police located the van on Solomon’s Island Road soon after. The victim and his roommate, who accompanied the officers, identified the driver and passenger, who was determined to be a juvenile.

The juvenile, a 14-year-old boy, was charged with robbery, assault and reckless endangerment, police said.
