Annapolis Crime: Police Search for Missing Man; Marijuana Seized from Car

Police Search for Missing Man—City police are looking for a missing 79-year-old man who was last seen at his home in the unit block of Steele Ave.

Police said William Danahy was reported missing just after 8 p.m. Tuesday. Danahy has dementia and is on medication for a heart condition, according to police. Police also said he has been known to take long walks in the Annapolis area.

Danahy is white, balding with gray hair and has blue eyes. He is about 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs about 130 pounds. Police said he was last seen wearing a tan jacket and tan pants.

Police ask anyone with any information about Danahy's whereabouts to call 911 or 410-268-4141.

Two Men Arrested on Drug Charges—City police arrested two men on drug charges Tuesday.

According to police, officers saw a car driving on West Street without its headlights on. The officer followed the car near the KFC on West Street, and according to the report, the car drove around the KFC parking lot and then pulled back out onto West Street.

When officers stopped the car on West Street, police said they could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside. Police asked the two men to get out of the car and they conducted a search.

The officers said they found five plastic bags containing 29.1 grams of marijuana, along with a scale, grinder and a ledger book in the car. The officers said they also found $243 in cash in the car, along with a cell phone.

Police said Yelton, the driver, had two South Carolina drivers' licenses in his wallet. The licenses had his photo, but different names and birth dates, according to police.

Yelton is charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) with intent to distribute, CDS possession—marijuana, possession of fraudulently altered government documents and two counts of possession of paraphernalia, according to the police report. He also was issued a citation for not having the lights on.

De Veau, who police said was a passenger, was charged with CDS possession with intent to distribute, CDS possession—marijuana and two counts of possession of paraphernalia, police said. He was also given a citation for having a suspended license.

According to Wednesday’s incident report, De Veau was released by the District Court commissioner and Yelton is being held on $100,000 bond.

Three packages taken from home—Three UPS packages were reported taken from the front of a home in the unit block of Hearthstone Court, city police said. According to police, the incident occurred between 3 p.m. Friday and 5 p.m. Monday.

Laptop stolen in the 1000 block of Paddington Place—Police said someone forced open a bathroom window and took a black Gateway laptop computer from a home in the 1000 block of Paddington Place. The incident occurred between 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to police.
