Annapolis Crime: Shoppers Report Stolen Wallets, Police Recover Stolen Car

The Annapolis Police Department provides arrest information but it does not indicate a conviction.

The (APD) reports 290 calls for service and 14 arrests in the last 72 hours.

The information below is a roundup of recent incidents supplied by the APD. It is not a complete list of crimes and incidents reported in Annapolis.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered—On Sunday, city police recovered a dark blue 1999 Chevrolet Suburban that was reported stolen. According to police, the car was stolen from the unit block of City Gate Lane sometime between 6 p.m. Saturday and 2 a.m. Sunday.

Police said officers saw someone driving the car on Glenwood Street in the direction of Taylor Avenue. However, before officers could get near the car, the occupants ran away and left the vehicle in the roadway. The people inside the car could not be located, police said.

Purse Stolen from Vehicle—According to Monday’s daily police brief, someone broke into the rear passenger side of a car and took a purse that was left on the passenger seat. Police said the incident occurred in the 1,000 block of Bay Ridge Avenue on Nov. 14 between 4 and 6:30 p.m.

Robbery on West Washington Street—City police said a man was getting out of an elevator when he was confronted by another man who grabbed him and demanded money. Police said there was a struggle and the suspect ran out of the building. The incident occurred around 7 p.m. Friday in the unit block of West Washington Street, police said.

Burglary—A woman told police she saw someone in her apartment in the 1,100 block of Madison Street between 1:55 and 2 a.m. Saturday. Police said nothing was taken from the home and there were no signs of forced entry.

Wallet Stolen from Purse in Shopping Cart (Old Solomons Island Road)—Police said a wallet was reported stolen from a purse in a cart while the victim was shopping. Police said the incident occurred at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the 200 block of Old Solomons Island Road.

Wallet Stolen from Purse in Shopping Cart (Forest Drive)— Police said a wallet was taken from a purse that was left in a cart while the victim was shopping. Police said the incident occurred in the 1,700 block of Forest Drive Saturday between 2 and 2:30 p.m.

Bicycle Stolen from Driveway—Police said a black and white boy’s bike was taken from the driveway of a home in the 100 block of Boxwood Road. Two boys were seen riding away on it, according to police. Police said the incident occurred just before noon Saturday.
