Annapolis Eatery Among America's Best Brunch Spots: OpenTable

ANNAPOLIS, MD — For the second year in a row, an Annapolis restaurant is among the top 100 brunch spots in America, according to OpenTable. The Iron Rooster made the cut for the 2017 list, released this week before Mother's Day.

The online reservation hub sifted through more than 10 million reviews from its users to determine the best restaurants for a midday/mid-morning meal. OpenTable then ranked the restaurants by overall score and those with "great for brunch" checked off as a descriptor.

More than 24,000 restaurants in the U.S. were considered for the list.

In addition to the Iron Rooster, three other Maryland eateries — Gertrude's and Regi's, both in Baltimore, and The Comus Inn at Sugarloaf Mountain in Dickerson — were on OpenTable's list of top 100 brunch spots.

"Brunch has become as synonymous with Mother's Day celebrations as it has the weekend, and the repertoire of dishes associated with the midday meal has expanded exponentially," OpenTable Chief Dining Officer Caroline Potter said in a statement with the list's release. "No longer an after-thought, this meal at these winning restaurants has become a showcase for culinary diversity..."

Breakfast is served all day at Iron Rooster, which opens its doors at 7 a.m. daily.

Crowdpleasers include five varieties of Eggs Benedict, pancakes, waffles, grits and much more.

An OpenTable reviewer said of the restaurant, "A terrifically funky spot with creative takes on comfort food classics and all day breakfast. We showed up about 45 minutes early for our reservation and were accommodated right away. The service was well paced and friendly, and the food was delicious! Share a house-made pop-tart, delicious but big!"

Iron Rooster is at 12 Market Space in Annapolis. Hours at Iron Rooster are 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
