Annapolis Fire Department Honored for Safety Efforts

Annapolis, MD — The Annapolis Fire Department will receive the International Association of Fire Chief’s annual Billy Goldfeder Fire Service Organizational Safety Award, city officials said.

The award is presented each year to fire service organizations that have demonstrated an outstanding commitment or significant contribution to health and safety. The Annapolis Fire Department is receiving this award for its ongoing commitment to publish and accomplish annual goals that improve firefighter safety efforts.

The award will be presented at the August conference in San Antonio, TX.

“I am proud of these men and women who go the extra mile, not only to protect our citizens but also to protect each other, through ongoing informational and educational programs,” Mayor Michael Pantelides said in a news release.

Annapolis Fire Chief Allan Stokes said, “This award represents a multi-year commitment between labor and management to improve the health and safety of our firefighters. I want to thank Mayor Pantelides and the City Council for their support of firefighter safety.”

Chief Billy Goldfeder, who the award is named after, serves as the Deputy Fire Chief of the Loveland-Symmes FD in S.W. Ohio and has spent his fire service career working to improve firefighter safety.
