Annapolis Man Charged In Dollar Store Theft

An Annapolis man was reportedly found with a handgun in his waistband and items he stole from the Glen Burnie Dollar Store, police say.

GLEN BURNIE, MD — An Annapolis man was reportedly caught with a handgun tucked into his pants and items taken from the Dollar General Store at 312 Hospital Drive in Glen Burnie, according to Anne Arundel County Police. The theft was reported about 10:30 p.m. by employees who said the suspect concealed merchandise in his clothing.

While the suspect fled, officers found him and he was taken into custody. During a search of the suspect, identified as Austin Monta Johnson, 25, of the 400 block of Captains Circle, several items from the store were recovered, police say.

Also located inside the suspect’s waistband was a .22 caliber Colt handgun.

Johnson is currently prohibited from possessing any firearms, and he was charged with theft and handgun charges.
