An Annapolis man pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the April 2013 shooting death of a Calvert County man.

Annapolis, MD — The third person accused in the murder of a Calvert County man was sentenced to 50 years in prison, with all but 30 years suspended, authorities said this week.
Tyrus Brown, 28, of Annapolis was sentenced June 6 in the killing of John Ray, 32, of Huntingtown. Annapolis Police found Ray shot to death in a car in the 200 block of Victor Parkway on April 21, 2013.
Brown pleaded guilty in April 2016 to second-degree murder and use of a firearm in a felony or violent crime.

While detectives determined that Tahzay Brown of Glen Burnie and Todd Brown of Annapolis were responsible for Ray’s murder, they later learned that Brown also played a role in the fatal shooting.
“This arrest was the result of relentless investigation and excellent teamwork,” said Annapolis Police Chief Michael Pristoop last summer when Tyrus Brown was taken into custody. “There was solid work by detectives, and now we are hopeful justice will be served in criminal court.”
