Annapolis Olympian Posts Top 15 Finish In Windsurfing

An Annapolis olympian finished in the top 15 of her windsurfing competition at the Tokyo games. She graduated from Broadneck High School.

TOKYO — An Annapolis windsurfer finished in 15th place at the Tokyo Summer Olympics. These were the second games for Farrah Hall, who competes in women's windsurfing-RS:X. The Marylander also went to the 2012 London Olympics, where she finished 2oth.

The 39-year-old graduated from Broadneck High School in 1999. She earned a biology degree from St. Mary’s College of Maryland four years later.

Hall now races with Aloha Attitude, a club team in Brest, France. With her experience in Europe, Hall is now fluent in French.

Sports run in Hall's family. Her mother previously won the rowing masters world championship.

When Hall isn't windsurfing, she is playing violin, reading or bird watching. As a former collegiate swimmer and triathlete, Hall also enjoys running, cycling and swimming. Hall additionally researched seagrass for the state of Florida for two years.

The 2020 games will be the last using the RS:X, a type of windsurfing board that made its Olympic debut in 2008. The 2024 games will switch to the iQFoil, Team USA journalist Paul D. Bowker reported.

Chinese sailer Yunxiu Lu took home the gold last Saturday in the final RS:X Olympics race. Hall didn't make it to the medal round, but she is still pleased with her performance in the field of 27.

"Happy with my finish at the Tokyo Olympics!" Hall posted on Instagram. "Our last day of fleet racing had beautiful windy and wavy conditions."
