Annapolis Opera To Perform 'Into The Woods' Musical This Weekend At Maryland Hall
The Annapolis Opera will perform "Into the Woods" this weekend. Tickets are on sale now for the three shows at Maryland Hall.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — The Annapolis Opera will perform "Into the Woods" this weekend at Maryland Hall.
The classic musical composed by Stephen Sondheim is about a baker and his wife who want to have a child. The couple then heads into the woods to reverse a curse.
The partners meet Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel and Cinderella along the way. They also run into two princes and Jack from "Jack and the Beanstalk." These magical characters are also chasing their own wishes.

"The Tony Award-winning show features numerous opera professionals from our own region in its major roles, as well as noted singers from across the country," Annapolis Opera volunteer Missy McTamney told Patch in an email. "The dark comedy brings everyone's favorite storybook characters together for a timeless, yet relevant modern classic."
Tickets starting at $28 are on sale now for the three shows, which are scheduled for:

- Friday, March 18 at 7:30 p.m.
- Saturday, March 19 at 7:30 p.m.
- Sunday, March 20 at 3 p.m.
The opera invited fans to a post-show discussion on Sunday with Artistic and Music Director Craig Kier.
There will also be free chats before the Friday and Sunday performances. Music teacher Hannah Epstein will lead those talks about the underlying messages of "Into the Woods."
Both pre-show events will take place in Maryland Hall Room 308. Friday's session is full, but there is still space for Sunday's discussion at 2 p.m. Registration is required at this link.
"Annapolis Opera has been a beloved part of the region's cultural life for almost 50 years," McTamney said. "Launched in the 1970s by members of Annapolis Summer Garden Theater, the Opera grew into a vital community cultural asset and partner."
Attendees must show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative test within 48 hours of entry. The venue will accept PCR and rapid tests.
Masks are required regardless of immunization status.
Maryland Hall is located in Annapolis at 801 Chase Street.
