Restaurant Week Is Back With Gourmet Food, Wine Deals In Annapolis

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Annapolis Restaurant Week kicks off Saturday, Feb. 25 and runs through Sunday, March 5.

This year marks the 15th anniversary of the event, which is sponsored by the Downtown Annapolis Partnership.

Highlights include price-fixed meals, international cuisines and wine deals.

Two-course breakfasts start at $9.95 and run through $15.95. Two-course lunches cost $12.95 to $19.95. Three-course dinners are $29.95 to $39.95.

More than 30 eateries are participating. Options include Irish, Salvadoran, French, Greek, American, Italian and Mexican food. Many restaurants will offer deals on local seafood and steaks, while others will have gluten-free and vegetarian menu items.

"It's a good time to visit not only your favorite restaurant but to try out someplace new," Downtown Annapolis Partnership Chairman Matt Schatzle said in a press release. "Annapolis has become a great destination for foodies and reservations are highly recommended."

Planners suggested dining out on weekdays to avoid the weekend dinner rush.

Several establishments will also have wine deals on weekdays.

There will be half-priced wine bottles Wednesday at Blackwall Hitch, Luna Blu Ristorante, O'Brien's Oyster Bar & Seafood Tavern and Paul's Homewood Cafe.

Middleton Tavern similarly has 1/3 off wine bottles on Wednesday.

Visit 49 West Coffeehouse, Wine Bar & Gallery for 25% off wine and cocktails Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

If you're into live music, consider a show after dinner.

Rams Head On Stage has regional and national concerts. The backroom at 49 West Coffeehouse features intimate performances. Many other bars have late-night music. Each business's website has its full calendar.

"This year we are also highlighting restaurants that offer private and semi-private dining spaces," Downtown Annapolis Partnership Executive Director Erik Evans said in the release.

Several restaurants can accommodate large groups to celebrate special occasions. These areas typically hold 15 to 60 people.

Some options for parties are Blackwall Hitch, Cafe Mezzanotte, Cafe Normandie, Caliente Grill, Federal House Bar & Grille, Harry Browne's, Latitude 38, McGarvey’s Saloon & Oyster Bar, Middleton Tavern, Paul’s Homewood Cafe, Rodizio Grill, Smashing Grapes and Tuscan Prime Italian Chophouse & Dolce Bar.

WMAR is spotlighting some of the participating eateries every weekday this week on Midday Maryland. That TV show airs at noon on ABC. These clips will showcase cooking demonstrations, introduce the chefs and give a sneak peek at the special menus.

The Federal House Bar & Grille started its menu early, so the deals are already available. Carrol's Creek Cafe usually extends its specials for an extra week.
