Annapolis Homeless Shelter Wins $20K Grant To Serve Unhoused Anne Arundel County Residents
An Annapolis homeless shelter won a $20,000 grant to help unhoused Anne Arundel County residents.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — The Phillips Charitable Foundation, Inc. awarded a $20,000 grant to The Light House - A Homeless Prevention Support Center in Annapolis. The money will help the shelter serve unhoused Anne Arundel County residents.
"These life-saving programs rely on the generosity of our community," Executive Director Jo Ann Mattson stated in a press release. "We are deeply grateful for the continued support from our friends at the Phillips Charitable Foundation, Inc."
Shelter leaders announced the award last Friday. They said the funding is much-needed, given how many locals still seek aid because of the coronavirus pandemic.

"Treating clients with dignity and respect is at the core of how The Light House addresses the cycle of homelessness," Mattson added. "Securing a safe, stable living environment is fundamental to supporting self-sufficiency; without stable housing, it is impossible to address an individual’s underlying causes of homelessness, be it unemployment, poverty or health."
