ANNAPOLIS, MD — City police announced Tuesday that they arrested an Annapolis man in connection with a recent shooting that injured two victims in the state capital. Officers said they also charged the accused man with an unrelated armed robbery.

Authorities identified the arrestee as 25-year-old De'Lass Reid.

The Annapolis Police Department heard about the shooting on June 11 around 2:30 a.m. Officers responded to the Anne Arundel Medical Center, where they said a walk-in gunshot victim was waiting. Authorities later found a second victim.

The victims were walking near Melrob Court when a male suspect approached them. Police said the male, who was armed with a handgun, demanded cash and cell phones.

A physical fight followed. Officers said the suspect fired one bullet, hitting one victim in the abdomen and the other in his arm.

The victims sought shelter in a nearby apartment building while the suspect fled, authorities said.

That evening, patrol officers conducted a traffic stop on President Street near Hoover Street. Police said they arrested the motorist, identified as Reid, on charges of a driver's license violation.

Authorities said they searched Reid after his arrest and found a loaded handgun on his person. Reid is legally prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition.

Police said their investigation linked Reid to an unrelated armed robbery that happened on May 28, prompting charges of that crime as well.

Officers said additional evidence reviews and interviews revealed that Reid also shot and robbed the two victims on June 11.

Authorities said they secured an arrest warrant last Friday and arrested Reid at the Jennifer Road Detention Center, where he was already in custody.

Reid is up against two counts of armed robbery and 13 related charges, police said.

Officers said Reid is being held without bond.

Detectives asked anybody with information on these crimes or other offenses to call (410) 260-3439.
