Annapolis Stabbing Hospitalizes Woman, Officers Arrest Suspect: Police

An Annapolis stabbing hospitalized a woman, police said. Officers arrested the suspect.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Annapolis police announced that a woman was hospitalized after she was stabbed recently in the state capital. Officers said they arrested the suspect, identified as 33-year-old Courtney Denise Simms.

The victim told police that she got into a physical fight with a known female last Friday around 12:55 a.m. Authorities accused Simms of stabbing the victim in the abdomen during the scuffle in the 100 block of Obery Court.

The Annapolis Police Department heard about the stabbing the next morning. Officers said they responded to an unnamed hospital Saturday around 9:40 a.m. to meet with the victim.

Authorities said they positively identified Simms as the suspect, found her soon after and arrested her.

Simms faces several counts of assault and other related offenses, police said.
