2 Annapolis Streets Flooded Tuesday; Flood Advisory Until 2 AM

Downtown Annapolis streets closed Tuesday by severe flooding are open again; a coastal flood advisory has been extended for the area.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — City officials say "severe flooding" closed streets and caused traffic problems in the Downtown/City Dock area Tuesday morning, but traffic is again moving. Annapolis is under a coastal flood advisory issued by the National Weather Service until 2 a.m. Wednesday; an earlier flood warning has been canceled.

Compromise Street and Dock Street were both closed by the high water, but re-opened by the lunch hour. Dock Street has an alternative traffic pattern but is accommodating vehicles, the city said in a news release.

Public Works had placed variable message signs and barricades in the area to keep drivers out. (For more news like this, find your local Patch here. If you have an iPhone, click here to get the free Patch iPhone app.)

The National Weather Service says tides will be 1 to 2 feet above normal this evening. The next high tide will be at 9:35 p.m.
