Annapolis Woman Dies In Gambrills Rollover Crash
Authorities say an Annapolis woman died when her pickup truck rolled over and crashed in Gambrills.

GAMBRILLS, MD — An Annapolis woman died when her pickup truck rolled over and crashed into a tree in Gambrills Friday night, according to Anne Arundel County Police. The victim was identified as Kaley Marie Smith, 21, of the 100 block of Acton Road in Annapolis.
The accident happened about 11 p.m. along Defense Highway (MD-450) near Huntwood Drive in Gambrills. A 2004 Ford Ranger pickup Smith was driving was eastbound on Defense Highway when it veered off the road, began to roll and struck a tree with the roof. Smith, who was wearing a seatbelt, was found trapped in the vehicle and declared dead at the scene.
Her body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy.

There were no witnesses to the crash and the reason for the driver leaving the roadway is unclear. Police say the preliminary cause of the crash is the failure to remain in a single lane, though rain may have been a contributing factor. It is also unknown if alcohol or drugs were involved.
