Anne Arundel County to Participate in National Night Out

If you don’t have plans for Tuesday, Aug. 5, Anne Arundel County has a lineup of events for the 31st Annual National Night Out Against Crime

Members of the Anne Arundel County Police Department, county leaders and community groups are teaming up for the events aimed at crime and drug prevention awareness, promoting police and community involvement in the partnership to create safer communities and strengthening community spirit.

Anne Arundel County Police Chief Kevin Davis and his entire command staff will attend the events.

“This will be my second National Night Out as chief of police here in Anne Arundel County, and I’m excited to meet the citizens who make our county great,” said Davis, according to a news release. “During my first year as police chief, community involvement has led to many crimes being solved as a result of citizens contacting police with important information. That partnership is what National Night Out is all about.”

Lula G. Scott Community Center, 6243 Shady Side Road in Shady Side, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Anne Arundel County Police Aviation Unit will be on location along with members and equipment from the Special Operations Division.

Lloyd Keaser Community Center, 5757 Belle Grove Road in Brooklyn, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. There will be activities for children, information kiosks, refreshments and police and fire department demonstrations. The Police Department’s Quick Response Team and K-9 unit will also be present.

Crofton Library Parking Lot, 1681 Riedel Road in Crofton, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Festivities include activities for children and police and fire demonstrations. The K-9 unit and members and equipment from the Special Operations Division will also be present.

Fort George G. Meade, at the McGlachlin Parade Field, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Aviation Unit will be present, weather permitting.

Villages at Dorchester Community Center, 7551 Dorchester Boulevard in Hanover. Activities are scheduled from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Annapolis Walk Community Park, 1701 Belle Drive, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Annapolis Police Department is hosting the event There will be a moonbounce, obstacle course, K-9 demonstration, Honor Guard presentation, identification cards for children, food and more.

*Note: Tanyard Springs has cancelled its National Night Out event.
